True Green isn’t just a web hosting company; they are champions for a greener future. Their unwavering commitment to sustainability has recently been recognised with an organisation Sustainability Award, solidifying their position as an industry leader in eco-friendly web hosting.
Founded by Ray Pastoors, a lifelong entrepreneur with a passion for both business and the environment, True Green goes beyond industry standards for sustainability. Here’s how they’re making a difference:
True Green’s dedication extends beyond carbon reduction. They actively support a diverse range of charities, including the Orangutan Project, the Australian Koala Foundation, the It’s Time Foundation, Oxfam, headspace, Beyond Blue, Green Web Foundation, and 1% for the Planet. This holistic approach demonstrates their commitment to environmental and social well-being.
“We’re thrilled to recognise True Green Web Hosting with this sustainability award. Their innovative approach to web hosting is a breath of fresh air for our planet. The internet has a surprisingly large carbon footprint, and True Green’s commitment to renewable energy sources, carbon offsetting programs, and local data centres is a significant step towards a greener online world. By empowering businesses to reduce their digital footprint, True Green is paving the way for a more sustainable future for the web.”
– Anna Chatburn, Founder, Sustainability Award
I started green web hosting as a passion project after realising the impact the cloud had on the planet.
We always think about car pollution and aeroplanes, as we can visually see the emissions going on. The web industry however is well hidden. If we could see the level of smoke or C02 being generated, it could change our world for the better by making us think twice about using technology the way we do.
Itโs our mission to educate people about the impact and physical space the cloud represents, helping them to become more aware and actively participate in reducing their carbon footprint.
The internet contributes to 2-3% of global carbon emissions and with less pressure than other sectors, will likely increase in the next few years, especially with the introduction of artificial intelligence which is estimated to be 30 times more carbon intensive than a simple search.
